Path 3/8: Friedrichshafen – Lindau

The Lake Constance cycle path runs through the city on the strip of cycle path accompanying Friedrichstrasse, passes under the port station and leads out of the city again via Eckenerstrasse.

If you want to go to the harbor and the beautiful promenade, you have to leave the bike path at the corner of Karlstrasse and Friedrichstrasse at the latest and drive along the Stadtgarten to Seestrasse.

In the city garden of Friedrichshafen there is a ban on cycling!

The easiest way to get back to the cycle path is to stay on Seestrasse, drive along the harbor and the Zeppelin Museum and then return to the official route at the large parking lots east of the city center.

Before the railway overpass, the cycle path signs point to the right and indicate the way to continue along the railway line to Eriskirch.

However, it is nicer to turn right again immediately to continue on the edge of the Eriskircher Ried.

At Eriskircher Strandbadstrasse, turn left towards Ort and meet the Lake Constance cycle path again before the railway line.

In the reed meadows of the Eriskircher Ried, thousands and thousands of blue irises bloom in spring. However, following the renaturation of the path for cyclists, the gravel path straight through the middle of the nature reserve can no longer be recommended.

Over a new wooden bridge you cross the river Schussen coming from Ravensburg and immediately turn right again to continue towards Langenargen.

Soon you will reach the place at the first houses of Schwedi.
Through Langenargen you drive through Obere Seestrasse and Bleicheweg and finally turn into Argenweg in the direction of the marina.

If you want to go to the suspension bridge, stay on Bleichestraße and drive across the Argen along the river towards Lake Constance.

Both variants meet again at Argensteg and lead through the middle of Camping Park Gohren towards Kressbronn.

Halfway through, you pass the Dorfkrug restaurant in Tunau.

From Tunau, the Lake Constance cycle path runs through the Bodanstrasse and Nonnenhorner Strasse past the lido, shipyards and the jetty to the holiday resort of Kressbronn and continues directly to Nonnenhorn near the shore.

The cycle path crosses Nonnenhorn on Uferstraße and Conrad-Forster-Straße and finally leaves the place on Wasserburger Straße.

This turns into a gravel bike path at the so-called Malerwinkel and leads around the small bay to the Wasserburg peninsula.

A stop at the small beach is definitely worth it, because the name “Malerwinkel” hits the nail on the head. Here is one of the classic views of Lake Constance.

While the marked cycle route on the so-called Small Lake, between the two Lindau dams, continues along the shore, nobody will want to miss out on a visit to the island city.

You get to Lindau on the embankment of the railway line and always stay to the left of this in the direction of travel. So you can get straight to the station square and a few meters further on to the famous harbor basin.

There are plenty of bike parking spaces here.
